Five Grocery Items We Are Seeing Price Increases In This Week:

1. Eggs

As of this week, large eggs have retailed for a price of $3.44 per dozen, which is $0.68, or 24.64%, higher than year ago prices. This week last year, large dozen eggs retailed at $2.76 per dozen. X-Large eggs are retailed at $3.25 per dozen, which is $0.86, or 35.98%, higher than this week last year's retail price of $2.39 per dozen.

2. Steaks

Steaks are currently retailed at $8.11 per pound, which is $0.27, or 3.44%, higher than the year prior. This week last year's retail price for steaks was $7.84 per pound. Boneless strip steaks are at $12.88 per pound, representing an increase of $4.03, or 45.54%, from last year's price of $7.84 per pound. Lastly, porterhouse steaks are retailed at $9.24 per pound, which is an increase of $2.25, or 32.19%, from this week last year's retail price of $6.99 per pound.

3. Fresh/Frozen Chicken Parts

This week's retail price for boneless skinless chicken breast is at $4.88 per pound. This is $0.91, or 22.92%, higher than this week a year ago retail price of $3.97 per pound. The retail price for breast tenders is $4.21 per pound, representing an increase of $0.45, or 11.97%, from this week last year. Last year's retail price for breast tenders was at $3.76 per pound. Lastly, thin sliced boneless breasts are at $5.18 per pound, which has increased $0.53, or 11.40%, from last year's price of $4.65 per pound.

4. Brand Label Bacon

Brand label bacon is currently at $6.38, representing an increase of $0.54, or 9.25%, from the year prior. This week last year's retail price from brand label bacon was $5.84.

5. Atlantic Salmon

Lastly, we have seen an increase in the retail price of Atlantic salmon compared to this week a year ago prices. Atlantic salmon is currently priced at $9.90 per pound, which is an increase of 1.08, or 12.24%, from this week the year prior. Last year's retail price of Atlantic salmon was at $8.82 per pound.
